When our real estate agent first brought the boy on wine and I to visit the place that is now our home about a year ago, it had been gutted. Built in the 1920s, it had last been occupied by an order of Catholic nuns. Despite its lack of walls and flooring, we immediately saw the potential.
Then we went downstairs to see the garage, and our agent guided us to the back, where we found a small storage room. The boy on wine and I looked at each other.
I don’t know which of us said it first: “Wine cellar.”

Before
We moved in last May, and just recently got around to the wine cellar project. And by “got around”, I must admit that I mean we decided to leave it to the professionals, and hired Vinum Espace Cave to build it for us.
The boy on wine documented the progress:

We are very pleased with the results:

After
Our collection remains rather modest at the moment (40 out of a potential 600+), but maybe one day we’ll get there…

Looks great. Good luck filling it up!
Thanks! I’ll be working on it…
How very inspiring. We’re planning to covert a 12X12 ft concrete cistern in our 1925 year old basement into a wine cellar. Or perhaps move a playroom and build it on two outside walls. But first, a bit of research is needed. Wish me luck.
That sounds like a very cool project – good luck! If you build it in the cistern, does that mean the cellar would be circular? Sounds like it would be very unique!
600? Don’t worry, you will ge there….faster than you think! Good idea t have use professionals. Seems that the space has been wisely used.

Merci Yves! Yes, I imagine that I won’t have to try too hard to fill it up faster than I think…
Nice! Looking up options to build a similar cellar.
What are your room dimensions?
